David Joliffe Appointed to SAG Boards
The MemberShipFirst leader takes a seat on the SAG National and Hollywood Division Board of Directors. Lainie Kazan has resigned from the SAG National and Hollywood Division Boards, and appointed MembershipFirst leader David Jolliffe to succeed her. Kazan was also associated with MembershipFirst, so the move does not appear to change the balance of power on the boards. The SAG constitution and by-laws allow a resigning member to appoint his or her own successor, who serves until the next election – in this case, September 2011. Jolliffe was on the ballot for the national board last September, but did not win a seat.

When ABC’s comedy-drama “Room 222” aired in 1969-74, there wasn’t anywhere that David Jolliffe could go without being recognized.
He was just 15 when he landed the role of student Bernie on the show set at Walt Whitman High School in L.A., and his bright-red Afro helped him stand out among the show’s ensemble cast. He soon was recognized everywhere he went.
“There were only three networks then,” he said in a recent interview. “You were on TV on a Wednesday night, and on Thursday everybody knew you.”
Life for Jolliffe, now 55, changed forever in the summer of 1969. His mother heard about casting for the pilot of “Room 222,” and she thought her son would be perfect for the role of the free-spirited and fun-loving Bernie.
